Authoritarian government is necessary, and some form of "victory" is nessessary to give the common people release and allow them to accept their place. Critical thought is allowed only if it is used to justify the leader's actions. Those who expect Republican rule to lead to a big crash are mistaken. You should be looking for the sort of slow decay that could be found in Franco's Spain or Peron's Argentina.
